ReviewChef – Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

ReviewChef is a Chrome extension that helps restaurants, hotels and other businesses write replies to customer reviews. This policy explains what data the extension handles.

Reviews and replies stay on your computer

The review text you select or paste is analysed and the replies are written locally in your browser, using the AI model built into Google Chrome (Gemini Nano) and, when needed, Chrome's built-in translator. Neither the reviews nor the replies are sent to us or to any third party – ReviewChef has no servers that receive them.

On computers that cannot run Chrome's built-in AI, ReviewChef writes replies with templates contained in the extension itself, again entirely on your computer.

What ReviewChef stores

  • Your venue profiles: business name, type, who signs the replies, tone, the contact email you choose to show to unhappy guests, and your notes.
  • Your settings (for example the reply language) and the number of free replies used this month.
  • The reviews ReviewChef has read on pages you opened (text, rating, site, whether they have a reply), to build your team briefing and morning check. Up to 500 reviews, kept on your computer.
  • The last replies you copied or inserted, so new replies don't repeat the same sentences.
  • The review pages you chose to check every morning and the hour you picked.

This information is kept with Chrome storage on your computer. You can delete it at any time by removing the extension.

What we do not collect

  • No review text, reply text, browsing history or page content is sent anywhere.
  • No analytics, tracking or advertising.
  • No data is sold or shared with third parties.

Payments (ReviewChef Pro only)

ReviewChef Pro is sold through ExtensionPay, with payments processed by Stripe. When you upgrade, ExtensionPay and Stripe receive the information needed to process the payment (such as your email address and payment details) under their own privacy policies. The extension then checks with ExtensionPay whether your subscription is active, using an anonymous identifier. We never see or store your card details.

Permissions

  • sidePanel – to show the ReviewChef panel.
  • contextMenus – to add "Reply with ReviewChef" to the right-click menu for selected text.
  • activeTab and scripting – to read the review you selected and, only when you click "Insert", to place the chosen reply in the reply box of the current page.
  • storage – to remember your venues and settings.
  • clipboardWrite – to copy a reply when you click "Copy".
  • alarms and notifications – only if you turn on the morning check: once a day, at the hour you choose, ReviewChef opens the review pages you picked in a minimised window, counts the reviews without a reply and shows you a notification. Nothing is sent anywhere.
  • Optional access to review sites (Google, Tripadvisor, Booking, TheFork, Yelp, Facebook, Airbnb, Trustpilot, OpenTable, Quandoo, Chope, Trip.com, Agoda, Expedia and Hotels.com) – asked only when you click "Find unanswered reviews on this page". ReviewChef then reads the reviews shown on that page, in your browser, to find the ones without a reply. It never reads pages in the background, and you can remove this access at any time from Chrome's extension settings.

Uninstalling

When you remove ReviewChef, Chrome opens a short optional feedback form. Answering is anonymous and voluntary.
