Questions, answered.
Which recipe sites does it work on?
Almost all of them. Most recipe sites describe their recipes in a standard format that search engines read, and ChefCard reads it too. When a site doesn't, ChefCard looks for the ingredients and method on the page itself — in English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Japanese.
Is ChefCard an ad blocker?
No. The site keeps its ads, because they pay the people who write the recipes. ChefCard opens the recipe in a clean card on top of the page and pauses videos that play on their own, so you can cook in peace. Close the card and the page is exactly as it was.
How accurate are the gram conversions?
Each ingredient has its own weight: a cup of flour is about 125 g, a cup of honey about 340 g. Our table covers over 100 common ingredients, checked against nine kitchen references. When an ingredient isn't in the table, ChefCard marks the amount with ≈ so you know it's an estimate. Small amounts like a teaspoon of salt stay as spoons.
Does it work on my phone or tablet?
Not yet — Chrome on phones doesn't support extensions. ChefCard works in Chrome on Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS. A ChefCard app for iPhone and Android is on the way.
Do you see the recipes I open or save?
No. Everything happens on your computer and your recipe box lives in your browser. There's no account and no tracking. Read the privacy policy.
What does Pro add, and can I cancel?
Pro translates whole recipes into your language (on your computer), keeps an unlimited recipe box, merges all your recipes into one shopping list and prints without the ChefCard footer. It costs $9.99 a year, $1.99 a month, or $24.99 once for life. Try it free for 7 days with no card; cancel anytime and the free features keep working.
