ChefCard – Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

ChefCard is a Chrome extension that shows the recipe on the page you are reading as a clean recipe card, with servings, unit conversion, timers, a shopping list and a recipe box. This policy explains what data the extension handles.

What stays on your computer

ChefCard reads a page only when you click its icon, use its keyboard shortcut or its right-click menu (Chrome's activeTab permission). The recipe is found and converted locally in your browser and is never sent to us or to any third party.

Your saved recipes, your shopping list and your settings are stored with Chrome's local extension storage on your own computer. Saved recipes keep the name and address of the original site, so you can always go back to it.

Recipe translation (ChefCard Pro) uses the translation built into Chrome, which runs on your computer. The first time you translate into a language, Chrome may download its translation model from Google.

What we do not collect

Sharing

When you choose to share a recipe, ChefCard prepares the text or image on your computer and hands it to the app you pick (for example WhatsApp or your email program), or copies it to your clipboard. Nothing is uploaded by ChefCard.

Payments (ChefCard Pro only)

ChefCard Pro is sold through ExtensionPay, with payments processed by Stripe. When you upgrade, ExtensionPay and Stripe receive the information needed to process the payment (such as your email address and payment details) under their own privacy policies. The extension then checks with ExtensionPay whether your subscription is active, using an anonymous identifier. We never see or store your card details.
